White House Blames “Poor Weather” For Soaring Prices

During Wednesday’s White House press briefing, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that the high cost of groceries was not due to President Biden’s economic policies but “poor weather” and avian flu, and claimed that the number of illegal crossings at the southern border had dropped by 70 percent.

In her opening remarks before taking questions, Jean-Pierre said the rise in grocery prices was caused by bottlenecks in the “global supply chain,” “unforeseen supply shocks” like the war in Ukraine and avian flu, and “also poor weather.”

Later in the briefing, a reporter asked if the White House had a response to Florida sending illegal aliens to California and if such an action “amounts to false imprisonment and kidnapping.”

Jean-Pierre described the actions as “political stunts” that are “dangerous” and “unacceptable.” She claimed that states like Texas and Florida are trying to “cause chaos and confusion.”

She then claimed that “unlawful” border crossings are down by 70 percent since Title 42 was lifted.

According to Jean-Pierre, this alleged 70 percent drop in illegal crossings was done through “deterrence,” “diplomacy,” and “enforcement,” adding that President Biden’s plan “is working” so she doesn’t understand why Republican governors are putting illegals on buses or planes.

Last Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security said encounters at the southern border have dropped over 70 percent since Title 42 ended, the Daily Caller reported. However, based on internal Border Patrol documents obtained by the outlet, thousands of illegals are continuing to cross the border every day.

According to the Daily Caller, last Thursday, Border Patrol released over 1,100 illegals into the country. One Border Patrol agent told the outlet that the agency has been releasing between one and two thousand illegals every day.

The agent, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the Daily Caller that officials with Border Patrol are boasting about “keeping sector capacity numbers down” but in reality, those illegals are being released into the US interior.
