Tim Scott Dumps Donald Trump When He Needed Him Most

On Monday, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) acknowledged that the federal indictment against Donald Trump, which includes 37 criminal counts, is a significant case with severe accusations and possibly serious repercussions.

Scott is currently running against Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Scott reacted to the news of Trump’s indictment by appearing on Fox News with Harris Faulkner and claiming that the Department of Justice was being used against Republicans, a common criticism amongst the right who sees the left doing similar deeds with no consequences. IE: Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

On Monday, Scott talked to reporters after a campaign stop in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He called the Trump indictment “serious.”

Scott told reporters that, as Americans, it is necessary to have a justice system where the lady of justice wears a blindfold. He also stated that there is a double standard across the administration of President Joe Biden. The existence of a double standard is not in line with American values and is not acceptable. It is impossible to safeguard Democracy and liberty while singling out and pursuing Republicans.

Scott promised to improve the Justice Department if he became president. He wanted all Americans to feel confident that they would be treated equally, regardless of race or political beliefs.

Scott acknowledged that the DOJ had a strong case against Trump, a significant shift in the stance of a GOP candidate who has refrained from criticizing Trump.

On Monday, Nikki Haley, a potential 2024 GOP candidate and former Governor of South Carolina, criticized Trump and stated that if the allegations in the indictment are accurate, he was extremely careless with national security.

Haley said she is a military spouse and that her husband will deploy this weekend.

She said discussing the capabilities of our military or potential actions against our enemies endangers our military personnel.

If that is true, she said, it is irresponsible, and Trump should be held accountable.
