Kevin Costner Settles Divorce With Christine Baumgartner

According to recent reports, actor Kevin Costner has finalized the divorce proceedings with his estranged spouse, Christine Baumgartner.

An entertainment outlet reported that the divorce proceedings between Costner and Baumgartner would continue for the remainder of the year. However, in a surprising change of events, it was announced that the pair had come to an arrangement. It would seem that the two may finally go their own ways as a result of a series of court battles that were won by Costner’s legal team.

After a two-day court hearing, Costner’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, was able to negotiate a $63,000 alimony monthly payment for the actor that was far lower than Baumgartner’s initial demand of $248,000. The judge’s ruling makes it evident that Costner and Baumgartner’s prenup will be respected, leaving Baumgartner with much less.

The report showed that Baumgartner would owe Costner almost 1 million dollars, in addition to paying his lawyers’ expenses, if she sought to contest the prenup and failed.

Baumgartner has accepted the settlement and is ready to go on after a failed marriage. They had been married for 18 years and have three kids: a 12-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 15-year-old.
An earlier report shows that when Christine Baumgartner sued for divorce from Costner in May, she battled to protect her financial interests. In the end, though, she only got a tiny bit more than what was specified in the prenup agreement, and presumably, it was merely to induce her to settle sooner.

It is not apparent what prompted the couple to break up, but Baumgartner mentioned the typical “irreconcilable issues” as the reason.

Baumgartner had submitted a request for shared custody of the children. Costner has sent his response, wherein he also requested shared parental custody.

This was Kevin Costner’s second marriage.
