(JustPatriots.com)- As the Democrats prepare to lose control of the House in the incoming 118th Congress, the January 6 Select Committee finally concluded without issuing former President Donald Trump a subpoena, according to Fox News. Rep. Bennie Thompson reportedly said that Trump’s testimony was no longer needed.
“In light of the imminent end of our investigation, the Select Committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena,” Thompson stated in a letter to Trump’s attorneys. He added that because of this they are going to withdraw the subpoena and Trump is no longer obligated to comply with the committee’s requests.
After the message, Trump took the opportunity to post to his social media platform Truth Social. He wrote that the “unselect committee” made up of “political thugs” decided to withdraw because they know he did nothing wrong or that they were going to lose in court. He then mentioned that the FBI rigging the 2020 election affected their decision.
Trump was subpoenaed by the committee to provide testimony and documents regarding the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Democrats accuse the former president of inciting an insurrection, which led to big tech platforms banning Trump, leading him to create his own social media platform.
Twitter recently reinstated the Trump account after Elon Musk acquired the company, but he has decided not to use his Twitter account because he could reportedly stand to lose millions of dollars.
Truth Social is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and was acquired by Digital World Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). Trump could potentially be sued by his investors if he devalues Truth Social by using Twitter again.
The former president could possibly use Twitter but not without some rules. An SEC filing by TMTG states that Trump cannot make the same social media post on both Truth Social and another platform within six hours.
