Woman Found Dead at UK Music Festival’s Campsite

At one of the Isle of Wight music festival’s tents, a woman has been discovered dead.

Though they are not assumed to be connected, the lady, who was in her 40s, passed away on the same day that the event caught fire.

Yesterday, just before 11 a.m., police were called to the area in response to allegations of a “sudden death” at one of the festival’s tents.

The woman’s family has been informed, and her death is not being investigated further.

According to a spokeswoman for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, they were called at 10.51 am yesterday (20/6) about a report of a sudden death in the Isle of Wight festival campground.

A file will be prepared for the coroner, and this will not be treated as suspicious.

A festival official said that the team at the Isle of Wight festival is deeply saddened by the passing of a festivalgoer on Thursday morning. Her family and friends are “in our hearts and our thoughts.”

The festivals that took place on the Isle of Wight between 1968 and 1970 are commonly regarded as Europe’s version of Woodstock.

The Isle of Wight festival didn’t take place between 1970 and 2002; nevertheless, veteran music organizer John Giddings took the opportunity to bring it back again.

Scouting For Girls headlined the Thursday night schedule; the other three days of the festival will feature performances by Pet Shop Boys, The Prodigy, and Green Day.

Other bands, including The Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Muse, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The Sex Pistols, Coldplay, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Police, have performed on the Isle of Wight festival stages since 2002.

Over the years, solo performances have also been given by Amy Winehouse, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, and David Bowie.

In 2019, Lollapalooza saw the death of a festival attendee for the second year running.

Benjamin Seto, 24, of Falls Church, Virginia, was the man who passed away in Grant Park, in Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

The person was transported from the event in severe condition, according to the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, and passed away at a hospital.

About 280 individuals were sent to the hospital after 2018’s Lollapalooza, including a 16-year-old who was found unresponsive and later died.
