Urgent Recall Issued
Waitrose, a major supermarket chain in the UK, has issued an urgent recall for the ZOE Daily30+ Wholefood Supplement due to potential contamination with small stones and metal fragments. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has raised concerns about the safety of the product, warning consumers about the risks associated with its consumption.
“The possible presence of stones and metal makes this product unsafe to eat,” the food watchdog said.
The affected batches have a ‘best before date’ of September 30, 2025, with batch codes: 24266A, 24267A, and 24270A. Customers who have purchased the supplement are strongly advised not to consume it and to return it to their local Waitrose branch for a full refund.
Health Risks and Safety Concerns
The recall highlights the serious health risks associated with consuming products contaminated with foreign objects. Swallowing small stones or metal fragments can lead to severe internal injuries and pose significant choking hazards. The Food Standards Agency has emphasized the importance of this recall in protecting consumer health and safety.
This incident is not isolated, as similar recalls have occurred recently in other retail chains. Marks & Spencer and Costa have also had to recall products due to metal and stone contamination, indicating a broader issue in the food and supplement industry.
