Wisconsin Officials Let Clerks “FIX” Ballots, Possibly Broke State Law

(JustPatriots.com)- As President Donald Trump’s campaign lawyers continue to file lawsuits contesting the results of the presidential election, new information has come to light in Wisconsin that suggest clerks may have broken state law by altering ballots filled in by voters.

Reports suggest that the Wisconsin Election Commission allowed local election clerks to “fix” ballots that lacked information, including addresses for witnesses. It appears to have violated a Wisconsin law that requires all ballots to have a witness address validated.

According to Wisconsin Statute 6.87(6D), “If a certificate is missing the address of the witness, the ballot may not be counted.”

And yet, ballots missing this information were counted after being altered by clerks.

In August, a directive was issued by the Wisconsin Elections Commission saying that voters should double-check that their ballot includes their signature and address.

“Your witness must sign and provide their full address,” it also reads. “Make sure your ballot is in your envelope and make sure the envelope is sealed properly.”

However, another directive issued by the commission in October to the state’s county clerks, election officials were told they could “fix” incomplete ballots.

“Please note that the clerk should attempt to resolve any missing witness address information prior to Election Day if possible and this can be done through reliable information (personal knowledge, voter registration information, through a phone call with the voter or witness)” it reads. “The witness does not need to appear to add a missing address.”

This, however, is wrong.

Speaking to Just the News, Professor Derek Muller from the Iowa School of Law said that it appeared to be a “technical violation of the statue.”

Retired Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman also said that the statue is “very, very clear.”

“If an absentee ballot does not have a witness address on it, it’s not valid. That ballot is not valid,” he told WISN.

So why were clerks allowed to fix them?

President Donald Trump’s campaign is likely to want to find that out.

Wisconsin has been at the center of a brewing story about possible election fraud in the United States.

138,000 ballots cast entirely for Joe Biden from one region in Wisconsin arrived at an election count in the middle of the night.
