(JustPatriots.com)- As the conflict between Israel and Hamas escalates, the UN is warning of “full-scale war” in the region if there is not a ceasefire.
“Stop the fire immediately,” tweeted Tor Wennesland, UN Special Envoy to the Middle East. “We’re escalating toward a full-scale war. Leaders on all sides have to take the responsibility of de-escalation.”
The United Nations has a one-sided track record for condemning Israel while dismissing the threat posed by Hamas.
Thus far, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls for a ceasefire vowing instead to step up attacks on Hamas.
On Saturday, the IDF conducted an airstrike on a high rise building in Gaza known to be used as a base of operations for Hamas. The building also contained offices for both the Associated Press and Al Jazeera.
It is widely known that Hamas uses “human shields” to prevent Israeli air strikes on their facilities – even going so far as to locate operations in or near schools.
The IDF did give ample warning to civilians to vacate the building prior to the airstrikes. However, the Western news media is outraged that the building was targeted at all.
According to OAN’s Jack Posobiec, a US military source told him the building housed “an underground Hamas Tactical Operations Center.” Tenants of the building were not allowed below a certain floor “which contained guards in tailored suits watching stairs and elevators.” Though the building is not owned by Hamas, the building owner was aware of their presence.
It does appear the peace accord cemented by the Trump Administration between the United Arab Emirates and Israel may still be having an impact, despite President Biden’s mishandling of the Middle East.
In a statement released over the weekend, an official from the UAE condemned the actions of Hamas saying they are “first and foremost hurting the people of Gaza.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s targeted strikes are thinning Hamas’s ranks. The commander of Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade, Bassem Issa, along with three other Hamas officers have been taken out in Israeli attacks.
According to Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency, the three other Hamas officers were Jamaa Tahla, responsible for the improved accuracy of the group’s rockets; Jamal Zabeda, chief of ‘special projects’ in the munitions department; and Hazzem Hatib, head engineer in the munitions wing.
Last night, Prime Minister Netanyahu released this video statement on what has occurred over the last week:
This past week, millions of Israelis were forced into bomb shelters as missiles rained down on our cities.
Several Israelis have been killed. Many more have been wounded. You know and I know, no country would tolerate this. Israel will not tolerate this. pic.twitter.com/INgjR91BS4
