(JustPatriots.com)- Air marshals in the United States are reportedly planning to “mutiny” against a White House order to quit their posts aboard commercial flights and take up positions at the country’s southern border.
Air Marshal National Council President David Londo said that dozens of marshals have committed to defying the order in protest. President Joe Biden has deployed US air marshals to the southern border to compensate for a paucity of Border Patrol agents, a decision that is projected to reduce the marshals’ customary coverage of US flights by one-eighth.
Londo predicted that rank-and-file air marshals would refuse to deploy and risk termination.
He said this would practically be a federal agency mutiny, which is unheard of.
“Morale is completely ruined as a result of this,” he added. “This is the first time I’ve seen anything like that.”
Londo’s claim was dismissed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The TSA stated that it is untrue and does not reflect these officers’ essential and professional law enforcement jobs.
Last year, the Federal Air Marshal Service urged marshals to volunteer to help border authorities process migrants at the southern border for 30 days. The deployments were made necessary by the Biden administration last month.
Londo wrote to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, TSA Administrator David Pekoske, and Federal Air Marshal Service Director Tirrell Stevenson in a letter that the marshals had lost “trust” in the authorities’ capacity to lead.
Londo wrote that they believe that many FAMs will refuse to deploy, believing that the order is dangerous and leaves our country exposed to attack.
In its early fight with the Biden administration, the air marshals’ organization is gaining support from outside law enforcement groups. According to Fox News, the National Association of Police Organizations published a statement supporting the air marshals’ protest.
Londo, an advocacy group, says the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to send air marshals to the southern border makes commercial flights insecure. The group says the Federal Air Marshal Service is understaffed and covers the fewest aircraft since before 9/11.
The DHS maintains that the allegation that flights are being left vulnerable is “completely false.”
