Donald Trump has claimed that tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg told him he would not vote for the Democrat candidate in November because of Trump’s bravery in Butler, Pennsylvania. During a media interview, the former President said Zuckerberg called him to explain that Facebook had “made a mistake” by labeling a photo of Trump raising his fist in the air following the Butler assassination attempt as “misinformation.”
Speaking to Maria Bartiromo, Mr. Trump claimed Zuckerberg told him he would ensure the error was corrected, adding that he could “not vote for a Democrat” because of Trump’s resilience. The former President also claimed that Mr. Zuckerberg told him he has always backed the Democrats and comes from a Democrat family but would vote Republican in November for the first time.
The Meta CEO, however, denied Trump’s assertion. A spokesperson for Zuckerberg said, “He’s not endorsing anybody in this race and has not communicated to anybody how he intends to vote.”
Trump made the remarks just weeks after he threatened to jail Zuckerberg “for life” if he interfered in the Presidential election. In a new book, the former President accuses the Meta boss of siding with Joe Biden in 2020 and manipulating content on Facebook and other platforms to favor the Democrat. Trump went on to threaten that Zuckerberg and others would be jailed for life if they did “anything illegal this time.”
The tech mogul is one of many people Trump has pledged to punish if he is re-elected to the White House in November. Speaking to a Wisconsin crowd on September 7, Trump said he would jail people he suspects cheated in 2020, including lawyers, political operatives, donors, and “corrupt election officials.” Critics say the remarks signal an escalation of retribution rhetoric that could backfire. Some have pointed out that many members of the Republican Party could also face Trump’s wrath.
In Wisconsin, the former President repeated his promise that he would review the jail sentences of January 6 prisoners, whom he described as “unjustly victimized by the Harris regime.” He promised to sign pardons for the prisoners on his first day back in the Oval Office.
