Trump Announces Game-Changing 5-Minute Coronavirus Test

(PatrioticPost.Com)- President Donald Trump may have been forced to backtrack on his pledge to reopen the U.S. economy by Easter, but that doesn’t mean he’s given up the fight against the Chinese coronavirus. This week, President Trump released a new coronavirus test kit that could offer accurate results in just five minutes.

That’s many times quicker than current tests, which take several days or sometimes as long as a week.

The “5 Minute” COVID-19 test kit, produced by Abbott Laboratories, will soon be made available in emergency rooms, doctor’s offices, and drive-thru locations. The kits will be rolled out over the next month, according to Dr. Stephen Hahn, the government’s Food and Drug Administration Commissioner.

During President Trump’s Rose Garden press briefing on the nation’s progress in the battle to defeat the coronavirus, Dr. Hahn discussed the test in more detail.

“Just like tests for flu or strep where you go to the doctor’s office so you can get a test done, you can get an answer within minutes of having this test done,” he said.

Dr. Hahn also explained how the testing cartridge is small enough to fit into a portable ID NOW device, which is already used as hospitals and doctor’s offices all over the country. Abbott Laboratories will launch the test next week, starting with select healthcare facilities that are focused on providing urgent care.

Fox News reporter John Roberts published a video of President Trump unboxing the test kit on during the press conference, as Hahn explained the details.

I guess it was only a matter of time, in the age of the internet, that we’d see the president doing an unboxing video!

The new test is being made available so soon because the usual regulatory hoops such a device would need to jump through have been eliminated courtesy of the Trump administration. Support from the Food and Drug Administration meant that it took only weeks to approve the test, and confirm it is both safe to use and accurate.

Trump told reporters during the briefing that the “numbers have been incredible on testing but in the days ahead we’re going to go even faster.”
