Tourist Gets Stabbed at NY Theme Park, Suspect Arrested

Authorities said that two families got into a dispute at a Long Island kid-friendly amusement park on Sunday afternoon, and one guy stabbed another in the stomach.

According to Suffolk County police, 42-year-old Daniel Tomasky attacked a 47-year-old man named James Burns at Adventureland Amusement Park at 4:50 p.m.

Burns is in critical condition at a local hospital.

The dispute between the two families unfolded in front of many children.

It happened in front of the Mystery Mansion ride at Adventureland Amusement Park.

Tomasky reportedly drew a knife and stabbed Burns. Court records indicate that four children, including Tomasky’s son, who is five years old, were present throughout the assault.

According to the police, Burns, a Floridian, was severely injured and was taken to the hospital in a critical condition where he had emergency surgery.

Despite the severity of the wounds, he is in stable condition.

Police detained Tomasky, a resident of Shirley, overnight.

He entered not-guilty pleas on Monday to multiple counts, including child endangerment, unlawful possession of a firearm, and assault with intent to cause severe damage. A conviction could land him anywhere from five to twenty-five years behind bars.

According to the prosecution, Tomasky attempted to impede the investigation by disposing of the weapon in a sewer following the altercation, as shown in video footage.

Dan Pacino, the supervisor of Brookhaven Town, was also present at the attraction with his family during the event.

He said as he strolled past the park’s antique car ride area, he saw a man slumped over a picnic bench, his body contorted in pain from a recent stabbing.

Tomasky had six past convictions, so they urged Judge Johnathan Bloom to set his bail at $100,000 and impose protection orders for the four child witnesses.

At the same time, Robert Macedonio, Tomasky’s lawyer, pleaded with the judge to let him visit his kid while he was out on bond, setting the amount at $25,000.

Tomasky was released on bond or $50,000 cash.
