(JustPatriots.com)- A new poll indicates that DeSantis has some work to do before attempting a national campaign.
The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, is considered a possible presidential contender in 2024, according to a new national study, but it does not imply he is free of the responsibilities and hard work required to get to the presidency.
According to the April 2022 Harvard/Harris Poll, the Governor is trailing one prospective 2024 General Election opponent, assuming that both candidates make the ballot.
In a poll of 1,966 registered voters conducted online on April 20 and 21, DeSantis stands 4 points behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the event that both DeSantis and Harris were to be nominated by their respective parties as presidential candidates.
Poll respondents chose Harris over DeSantis by a margin of 42 to 38 percent, respectively. The other 20 percent were unclear about who they would pick as a presidential candidate.
One wonders what the sample pool makeup was. Considering Harris’s poor approval ratings, the pool may have been skewed heavily toward democrat voters.
Historically, the DeSantis and Harris hypothetical contests have been tight. According to a February Harvard University/Harris Poll, Harris was the preferred candidate by 41 percent of those polled, with DeSantis receiving 39 percent.
According to a Harvard/Harris poll conducted in January, DeSantis was one point ahead of his opponent, with 40 percent to 39 percent.
In the most recent poll, conducted in April, DeSantis was not surveyed against Vice President Joe Biden.
Harris and Biden were pitted against former President Donald Trump, who proved to be the stronger of the two opponents.
Trump received 47 percent support against Vice President Biden, which was six percentage points more than Harris’s support. In addition, when put up against Biden, Trump retained a 2-point advantage, 45 percent to 43 cents.
According to the survey results, DeSantis would be the top choice of Republican partisans if Trump did not seek a second term in office in 2024. The poll also looked at the horse race for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
Trump had 58 percent support among Republican registered voters, 45 points ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, in a field that included both Trump and DeSantis.
If Trump does not decide to run, DeSantis would be the front-runner in the field. It is his 35 percent support that is equivalent to the combined support of the following three contenders. Former Vice President Mike Pence received 20 percent of the vote, with Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas receiving 8 percent and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley receiving 7 percent of the vote.
Also monitored in the survey was the popularity of DeSantis, who was shown to have the greatest net popularity of any national figure polled in this country.
According to the results of the study, 35 percent of respondents approved of DeSantis while 31 percent disapproved, giving him a net +4 approval rating. Senate Minority Leader Tim Scott of South Carolina received net positive approval, making him the only other politician to do so.
Former President Trump received a net -5, while President Biden and Vice President Harris received a net -10.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had net ratings of -21 and -20, respectively, which were the poorest of any political leader in the country. Chris Cuomo, a former CNN presenter, fared much worse, with a minus-25.
Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin received a negative rating of -66, with 11 percent of the population supporting him and 77 percent opposing him.
