(JustPatriots.com)- Taliban soldiers have reportedly detained several journalists who were in Afghanistan representing the United Nations.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced on Friday how two journalists working on assignment with UNHCR, as well as Afghan nationals who were working with them, had been arrested and detained in Kabul.
“We are doing our utmost to resolve the situation, in coordination with others,” the tweet said.

A Taliban intelligence member also confirmed to the U.S. press that “several foreign nationals” had been detained and charged with working for Western intelligence agencies.
One of the journalists arrested was Andrew North, a British correspondent who previously worked with the BBC and covered Afghanistan for 20 years. He has traveled the country many times before. Norths’ wife, Natalia Antelava, thanked people for their kind messages and said that she is “extremely concerned” for his safety.
Thank you everyone for your messages. Andrew was in Kabul working for the UNHCR & trying to help the people of Afghanistan. We are extremely concerned for his safety & call on anyone with influence to help secure his release. https://t.co/lgVblvlaa3

She added that she is calling on anyone with influence to help secure his release.
However, Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid didn’t offer much in the way of details. In fact, very little in the way of details from the Taliban has been made available so far. Mujahid simple said that they were “looking into” the issue.
We will report back on this story when more information is available.
