(JustPatriots.com)- The jihadist Taliban took control of Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital city, and the nation’s government in August of this year after President Joe Biden ordered the withdrawal of all U.S. troops before evacuating all American citizens and recovering tens of billions of dollars worth of military equipment.
Since then, the Islamic organization has gone about transforming the country into a theocratic state, and that means punishing those who don’t follow the rules set out in the Qur’an.
On Friday, three alleged members of the Taliban shot and killed three attendees at a wedding reception for committing the crime of…playing music.
In Islam, music is technically considered Haram, which means “impermissible by God.”
According to a report by the Washington Examiner, the attendees were told to turn the music down, and when they refused, the three men opened fire and killed three people, and injured 10.
In the wake of the horrific shooting, two gunmen were arrested and one man is still at large. It remains unclear to many who exactly is in charge, and it is unclear whether these men will face any further punishment.
However, a spokesman for the Taliban insisted on Sunday that the men were not aligned with the Taliban and that while Sharia (Islamic law) discourages entertainment, they believe that violence is not the right response.
Zabihullah Mujahid said that in their Islamic Emirate, nobody has the right to turn anyone away from music, but instead to “persuade them.”
“That is the main way,” he said, adding that it is a crime for anybody to kill another person and that those who kill will “face the law.”
Sure. We’ll see.
The Taliban previously banned music from 1996 until 2001, and it’s hardly uncommon for Taliban extremists to murder non-believers and people not considered “true Muslims.”
