(JustPatriots.com)- In a move that will shock absolutely nobody, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Palestine) introduced a resolution on Monday calling for the United States to recognize and commemorate the Palestinian Nakba Day.
“Nakba” (AKA “catastrophe”) is the term Palestinians use to describe Israel’s independence on May 14, 1948. And while Israel celebrates its independence every May 14, Palestinians are commemorating “Nakba Day.”
And now Rashida Tlaib wants the United States to do the same, commemorate the “catastrophe” that is Israel becoming an independent state.
Can you believe this woman?
Tlaib’s resolution is supported by her fellow Squad members, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Cori Bush (D-BLM), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Also joining the Anti-Israel resolution are Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), Marie Newsman (D-IL), and Betty McCollum (D-MN).
Defending the resolution on Twitter, Tlaib claimed that “since the 48 Nakba,” Palestinians “have been living under oppression and violent racism.” She criticized the US for its financial support for Israel, claiming “black checks” enable “death and violence.”
Tlaib’s resolution attempts to rewrite history by glossing over the violent attacks against Israelis from Palestinian Arabs. In the resolution, Tlaib makes note that after the 1947 UN resolution to split the territory into two separate states, one for Jews and one for Palestinian Arabs, the Palestinians were forced to flee their homes “often after attacks by Zionist militias.”
What Tlaib leaves out, however, is that those “attacks by Zionist militias” were in response to attacks by Palestinian Arabs. This is a recurring theme for Tlaib, who always glosses over the initial Palestinian aggression that always precedes every Israeli attack.
Even the US State Department’s Office of the Historian notes that after the 1947 UN resolution, Jewish cities, settlements, and armed forces were attacked by “irregular bands of Palestinian Arabs.”
Since being elected in 2018, Tlaib’s primary focus has been undermining relations between the United States and its ally, Israel. And while it is true that Tlaib is the daughter of two Palestinian immigrants, she seems to forget that her constituents live in Michigan, not Palestine.
