Skateboarding 7-Year-Old Killed In Hit-and-Run

Next time you let your kids out to play, make sure they don’t go too close to the road. Apparently it doesn’t matter how many signs people erect, people don’t want to slow down while driving through neighborhoods these days. And some people don’t think it’s their responsibility to stop when they do, tragically, crash their vehicles.

This is the story of a 7-year-old boy who lost his life far too young after an unknown driver hit him with their car.

A 7-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident while riding his skateboard in Minneapolis on Saturday evening. The incident occurred just after 7:50 p.m. at the intersection of 33rd Avenue North and Russell Avenue North, near Cleveland Park.

Minneapolis police officers responded to the scene and found the young boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders provided immediate aid before transporting him to Hennepin Healthcare for further treatment. The boy’s name and condition have not yet been released.

Preliminary reports suggest the boy was skateboarding when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene before officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and investigators are working to determine what led to the crash.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara issued a statement expressing sympathy for those affected by hit-and-run crashes and reminding drivers to remain at the scene of any accidents, as required by law. He also urged drivers to exercise caution in neighborhoods, noting the citywide 20 mph speed limit unless otherwise posted.
