Rob Schneider Reacts to Daughter Criticizing His Parenting

Actor Rob Schneider is trying to patch things up with his daughter after she made disparaging remarks about his parenting in a recent interview.

On Wednesday, Aug. 14, Schneider sat down with Tucker Carlson for an interview on the Tucker Carlson Network and the two discussed several topics. One of the topics that came up was Schneider’s daughter and recent remarks she made about her father a couple of days previously, about their relationship, and the challenges of her childhood.

Tanner Elle Schneider is a singer, songwriter, musician, and actress who goes by the stage name Elle King, using the maiden name of her mother, London King. On Monday, Aug. 12, she made an appearance on the “Full Dumb Blonde” podcast hosted by Bunnie Xo and one of the subjects discussed was her relationship with her father. King said her mother and stepfather mostly raised her in Ohio while she only spent the occasional summer with Schneider, who she said was often on a film set and that her father was usually unavailable.

King said she was estranged from Schneider and also disagreed with some of his public remarks about transgenderism and vaccines, accusing him of being “transphobic” and “misogynistic.” King then talked about how her father sent her to a weight-loss camp when she was a child with a binge eating disorder and “really, really heavy.” She said the decision hurt her deeply and that the experience was “very toxic and very silly.” She also said Schneider had forgotten her birthday a few times before.

When Carlson asked Schneider about King’s remarks, the 60-year-old actor apologized to his daughter on Carlson’s show and expressed deep regret for his shortcomings as a father.

The actor told King that he loves her and that he wishes he could have been the father she needed as a young lady when he was in his 20s. Schneider asked for King’s forgiveness and told her that he only wants her “to be well and happy,” wishing her the best. Scheider added that he felt “terrible” and wanted to let King know that he didn’t take anything “personally” that she said about him.
