Republicans To Have A Spanish Response To State Of The Union

( President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on February 7 will include an official Spanish-language rebuttal from freshman congressman Juan Ciscomani (R, Arizona).

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) praised Ciscomani’s, saying, “While Democrats’ woke politics would have you think the worst of our country, Juan and his family are a bright reminder of what we look like at our finest.”

“As many of you know, Juan’s story — immigrating to America at age 11 — and his father drove a bus in Tuscon, Ariz. Just a real true American story as well,” McCarthy said.

In a news release, Ciscomani said, “I’m humbled and pleased by the chance to present the Spanish answer to the State of the Union speech. My message will be clear and concise: The American Dream is a goal worth pursuing.”

Latino voters are leaning increasingly toward Republicans, so news of the speech comes at a good time. Hispanics in Florida were a big reason why Gov. Ron DeSantis (R.) was re-elected by a huge margin last year. Polls say that 40% of Latinos are worried about Democrats embracing socialism, and the same number say the made-up progressive term “Latinx” offends them.

40-year-old Ciscomani was reared in Tucson, Arizona, but was born in Mexico.

As a young kid, Congressman Juan Ciscomani and his family moved to the United States with the firm conviction that anything is possible in this country.

McCarthy said, “Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s tale is nothing short of inspiring.” He said the American Dream and Congress are strengthened due to Juan’s distinctive viewpoints and life experiences.

Ciscomani expressed his gratitude and pride at having the chance to offer the Spanish answer to the State of the Union speech.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the governor of Arkansas, will offer the English-language response for the Republicans.

She is the former White House press secretary for President Donald Trump and the daughter of two-term Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
