(JustPatriots.com)- Ken Langone, a Republican billionaire who has long bank-rolled Republican candidates, said that he supports the 2024 re-election bid of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
Speaking to CNBC on Wednesday, Langone said that Manchin is a “great American” and praised him for exhibiting “guts and courage.” And while the billionaire donor didn’t explicitly refer to Manchin’s refusal to vote in favor of anything the Democrats threw at him, including the unprecedented $1.8 trillion “Build Back Better” plan, it did seem to be what he was praising.
Manchin is one of two Democrat senators who refuses to back the plan, which would worsen the nation’s already problematic inflation crisis, and who refuses to vote to remove the Senate filibuster that would give the Democrats a chance to pass whatever they like with a simple majority vote.
The West Virginia senator has even stood in the way of plans to raise corporation tax beyond 25% – a move that would push businesses out of the United States and cost American people jobs.
Speaking on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Langone said that he doesn’t see leadership anywhere in the country, but “Thank God for Joe Manchin.”
The statement is likely to just throw fuel on the fire, with far-left Democrats in Congress repeatedly accusing Manchin and fellow moderate Senator Kyrsten Sinema of aiding a racist and bigoted agenda. In reality, they’re just standing in the way of the Democrats enacting some of the most harmful policies ever proposed by a major party in America.
Langone told CNBC that he plans to “have one of the biggest fundraiser [he’s] ever had” for Manchin.
“He’s special. He’s precious. He’s a great American,” he added.
He’s certainly one of the bravest, taking on the ultra-progressive establishment without apology.
