(JustPatriots.com)- Trans-woman Rachel Levine, the current Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), plotted with opponents of a 2017 Pennsylvania bill that would have blocked taxpayer funding for surgical gender changes for children.
Accordng to reports, Pennsylvania House Bill 1933 would have ended taxpayer funding for cross-gender medical treatments for minors, but it failed to pass due to opposition from activists and groups of plastic surgeons, according to emails obtained by parental rights activist Megan Brock through a request for documents.
Levine, who was the state’s acting secretary of health at the time, thanked University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Plastic Surgery Chief Joseph Losee for his letter opposing HB 1933 on behalf of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Society of Plastic Surgeons.
The letter stated that gender-affirming surgeries would be inaccessible to many transgender people who require them, depriving them of lasting concordance with their gendered self and improved psychological well-being and overall health. Treating gender dysphoria requires a multidisciplinary approach, which may include mental health professionals, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, and plastic surgeons. It is well within the scope of procedures for which programs such as Medical Assistance and CHIP should ensure access.
When there is money to be made, medical ethics get set aside.
According to law, Pennsylvania’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health coverage to families who do not qualify for Medicaid but cannot otherwise afford coverage.
Other activists suggested that Levine was a part of the opposition to the bill’s passage. Levine met and posed for pictures with members of the LGBT organization Pennsylvania Youth Congress in 2017, according to the group’s Instagram post. According to a 2021 Instagram post, they advocated for Levine’s confirmation in the Biden administration.
According to the same collection of emails obtained by Brock, the advocacy organization Equality Pennsylvania copied Levine on an email to legislators with an attached letter of opposition to HB 1933. All emails from Levine regarding HB 1933 were redacted except for thank-you emails.
The left has moral deficiencies when it comes to children.
