(JustPatriots.com)- Moscow on Monday denounced an alleged Israeli attack that occurred over the weekend. It was close to a Russian base in Syria. Putin demanded a halt to Israel’s ongoing air war there.
Maria Zakharova, a foreign ministry spokeswoman, said that they strongly condemn reckless activities that violate the sovereignty of Syria and the fundamental principles of international law and demand unconditional cessation.
The very rare daytime attack on Saturday was directed towards a region south of Tartus, near the Syrian town of al-Hamidiyah, which serves as the primary naval base for Russia in the area. According to Moscow, two people were hurt, and critical damage was done to civilian infrastructure.
Israel has also been blamed by Syria, although the IDF has not yet responded in accordance with its policy of typically remaining silent over particular acts in Syria.
Over the years, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes on targets in Syria, but it seldom admits or discusses these actions.
Israel has previously stated that it targets the facilities of militias with ties to Iran, such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah organization, which has fighters stationed in Syria, and shipments of weapons thought to be headed for different regional proxies.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strike on Saturday was intended to hit weapons headed for the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon. No other organizations endorsed the assertion.
The missiles were fired Saturday by Israeli fighter planes over the Mediterranean Sea, west of the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, at the Syrian village of al-Hamidiyah, south of Tartus, according to the state-run SANA news agency, which cited a military source.
While the majority of purported Israeli assaults in Syria commonly occur at night, the alleged strike on Saturday was allegedly carried out at approximately 6:30 a.m. during the day.
“Poultry farms” were the target of the bombing, according to SANA, and two civilians were harmed. It was not immediately evident how they were feeling. The location itself also sustained damage.
Syria frequently disputes Israel’s targets as being non-military.
SANA published a video that showed debris at what it claimed was the location of the target facility.
Even though relations with Moscow have worsened recently, Israeli attacks have persisted in Syrian airspace, which is mostly under Russian control. Israel has found itself at odds with Russia as the latter has increased its support for Ukraine while attempting to preserve airspace freedom over Syria.
The Damascus International Airport was the target of a significant attack on June 10 and was forced to remain closed for two weeks. Israel had claimed that Iran had been shipping weapons to the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group via civilian aircraft to Syria.
Russia also harshly denounced the attacks, calling for a halt since they violated Syria’s sovereignty.
