POPE IN TROUBLE

(JustPatriots.com)- No matter how woke the Pope gets, he’ll never quite be good enough.

That was the message from the National Catholic Reporter last week when the newspaper’s editorial staff published an article slamming the Vatican for refusing to endorse blessings of homosexual marriages.

The article said that Pope Francis’s refusal to bless homosexual unions made him a “hypocrite,” and suggested that his position on the matter constituted “absurdity.”

“There are many laudatory words and phrases we might use to describe the Pope Francis the world has come to know over these past eight years. Genuine. Pastoral. Open-minded. Concerned for the poor, humanity, the environment. Friend of the marginalized,” the editors wrote.

“But the pope’s decision to approve the March 15 decree from the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith instructing Catholic priests not to offer blessings for same-sex couples brings to mind a word that is much more bitter in the throat. Hypocrite,” they added.

The authors didn’t appear to like how the Vatican said that gay marriages can have “positive elements” while also saying that they are “not ordered to the Creator’s plan.”

If they think that is offensive, they should try reading the Old Testament…or the Qur’an.

Editors suggested that Pope Francis was a hypocrite because he is the “same man who has met with LGBT couples throughout his papacy,” as if meeting gay couples changes what the Bible says. They also reference how he personally intervened in the case of an Italian gay couple who wanted to ensure that their children could be raised Catholic.

Again, they didn’t offer an explanation of how Pope Francis’s kindness – and wokeness – meant that he has to disregard the word of the Bible.

The nonsensical outrage came after the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith reaffirmed at the beginning of last week that the Church cannot grant blessings to homosexual unions, describing how blessings require “the right intention of those who participate” and that what is blessed “be objectively and positively ordered to receive and express grace, according to the designs of God inscribed in creation, and fully revealed by Christ the Lord.”

The left-wing Catholic newspaper asks: “Where has that Pope Francis gone?”

“Surely, as the world stumbles to emerge from the greatest health and economic crisis in a century, there are more urgent issues for the Vatican to focus on rather than how God does or doesn’t view gay unions,” the piece continues.

More important issues than the word of God?
