(JustPatriots.com)- Trouble seems to be brewing for Democrats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
As liberals seek to somehow retain control of both chambers of Congress, more and more ominous news is pouring in by the day.
This week, a new poll conducted by John Zogby Strategies indicated that independent voters prefer that Republicans retake control of both the House and Senate after next year’s elections. In fact, there was an overwhelming spread of 18-point margin between those who preferred the GOP had control versus those who preferred continued Democratic control.
Of those voters who described themselves as independent, 45% said they wanted the Republicans to regain control of Congress, while only 27% said they wanted Democrats to retain control. That left 28% of respondents to the poll saying they weren’t sure which party they preferred have control.
The poll’s general ballot about congressional seats found that Republicans held the preference, with an advantage of 46% to 43% over Democrats.
In a statement as the poll was released, John Zogby said:
“In my four decades of polling, Democrats need about a five percentage-point advantage [in] nationwide congressional preference in order to maintain a majority of Congress. With a three-point Republican lead, and a substantial lead among independents, signs are pointing today to the possibility of a big Republican advantage going into 2022.”
At the same time, President Joe Biden could be able to glean some positive news from this latest poll. His own approval rating in this poll was higher than it was in other polls taken recently.
Of those who were polled, 46% said they approved of his work in office, while 52% disapproved. Zogby also said that 40% of those who responded to the poll said they “strongly” disapproved of the work Biden has been doing in the White House.
“Biden’s overall numbers are borderline at 46%, but with 40% strong disapproval, his room for growth is severely limited.”
Compounding the challenge to Biden turning the tables is the fact that only 20% of people who responded to the poll said they “strongly” approved of his performance thus far.
Biden entered the White House with high hopes for himself. Early on, he was making a good number of people in America happy. However, that quickly deteriorated as he took some big actions, and then botched other big decisions.
First came the massive multi-trillion-dollar stimulus package passed in the spring via budget reconciliation that many people have said was just unnecessary. While it sent billions of dollars to many Americans, it’s also at least partially to blame for the huge spike in inflation in recent months.
The Biden administration botched the military withdrawal from Afghanistan over the summer, and they’re still having to answer for the fallout from that.
As the holiday shopping season approached a few months ago, the backlog in the supply chain left many people without goods they needed.
And this all hasn’t even mentioned the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact that not even Biden and his liberal team have been able to get in under control. In fact, the case numbers say the pandemic may be at the worst state it’s been in over the almost two years it’s been in the U.S.
