New Poll Reveals Democrats Don’t Think Police Is Important

( A shocking new poll from Rasmussen Reports revealed just how split the nation is on the issue of policing, with a massive majority of Republicans describing America’s police force as “important” and only half of Democrats saying the same.

Rasmussen asked respondents, “Is being a police officer one of the most important jobs in our country today?”

A majority of all respondents, 62%, said “yes.” It’s a majority, but not a huge majority. Some 23% of Americans said “No” and 15 said they were “not sure.” It means that, at the very least, roughly one quarter of America doesn’t think that policing is an important job.

When broken down between parties, the thought processes behind these answers become evident.

86% of Republicans said that they believe it’s one of the most important jobs in the country, but only 50% of Democrat said that same thing. A tiny minority of Republicans, 8%, said “no, and 34% of Democrats said “no.”

One of the likely drivers behind these answers is Black Lives Matter, the claims by Democrats and left-wing activists that America’s police officers are instinctively and systemically racist, and that the police force must be defunded to keep Black Americans safe.

Even though this narrative has been proven wrong – with 81% of Black Americans wanting police presence in their neighborhoods to either stay the same or increase – Democrats continue to push the line that America’s police are the problem and should either be reformed or done away with completely.

The latest Rasmussen poll also asked Americans, “How concerned are you that the growing criticism of America’s police will lead to a shortage of police officers and reduce public safety in the community where you live?”

A majority of respondents, some 63%, said that they were concerned. Out of those 63%, 37% said that they were “very concerned” and 26% said that they were “somewhat concerned.”

Weirdly, 19% of Americans said that they were “not very concerned” and 10% were “not at all concerned.”

Some of the biggest proponents of the “Defund the Police” movement also regularly use taxpayer money to pay for private security.

Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said “Defunding police means defunding police,” in a statement last year. “It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools.”

Meanwhile, filings from the Federal Elections Commission reveal how Ocasio-Cortex spent $3,000 per month in January, February, and March, on a security consultant based in Brooklyn, New York. Then, on January 25 of this year, she spent a total of $24,279.13 on security, and a further $3,986.60 on “security services.”

Is the American public being fooled by rich “socialists” into defunding the police?
