(PatrioticPost.Com)- Senate Majority Leader, Republican Mitch McConnell, unleashed on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday over her continued attempts to use the coronavirus pandemic to advance her political goals. McConnell ripped into the Democratic Senator for California just a week after she and her Congressional colleagues turned their backs on urgent bipartisan coronavirus economic relief legislation.
Speaking to Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum, McConnell said he wished Nancy would “turn off all those political talking points.”
When we say “unleashed,” we’re talking about Mitch McConnell here. His way of ripping into political opponents is doing so in a respectful and polite tone…but it’s still brutal.
The Senate Majority Leader called into question Pelosi’s sincerity in the fight against coronavirus, citing her attacks on the provisions for big businesses in the emergency relief legislation.
“An awful lot of Americans work for big companies, so we didn’t want to exclude the employees simply because of the size of their employer,” McConnell explained. “She knows better than that.”
McConnell also said he hopes Pelosi’s ongoing political rhetoric was enough to “comfort” House Democrats to go ahead and support the legislation. Thankfully, they did, and it was quickly signed by President Trump.
Americans will now be delivered the urgent financial assistance they need to pay bills while huge sections of the American economy completely shut down. McConnell also took the opportunity to praise his colleagues in the Senate for so quickly putting together a $2 trillion coronavirus compromise package that met enough of the demands of both sides to be passed so quickly.
“It came together in less than a week which is a very challenging thing to do in Congress,” he ended.
The legislation will send $1,200 checks to all American workers who earn under $75,000 per year, and will also offer zero-interest loans to small companies that employ fewer than 500 people. The measures are designed to help people get through the impending recession, caused by businesses being forced to close. Millions of people will become unemployed and President Trump will have a huge task ahead of him, rebuilding an economy he made strong over three years.
