(JustPatriots.com)- Reporters in Arizona questioned Kari Lake about her interest in serving as Donald Trump’s running mate in 2024.
She replied that she was “applying for the job of Arizona Governor” and that she was declining because she dislikes Washington, D.C.
Reporter: Would you be open to being chosen as vice president?
Kari Lake: No. First, I detest Washington, D.C., and I detest it right now. Ironically, this question was posed because many of you in the media have spent a long time pretending I lack the qualifications to run for governor. I guess you think I’m so good now that I deserve to be vice president. So, thank you for asking; I take that as a compliment.
Reporter: Have you discussed it with Trump?
Kari Lake: I frequently speak with President Trump, but I haven’t discussed that with him. My daily outreach efforts are part of my application for the position of Arizona Governor. Where is Katie Hobbs? She should respond to inquiries while she is standing here.
Katie Hobbs, a Democrat running for governor, declared on Sunday that she will skip her only scheduled televised debate with Kari Lake.
Nicole DeMont, the campaign manager for Hobbs, said debating a conspiracy theorist like Kari Lake would only lead to constant interruptions, pointless distractions, and childish name-calling.
With Hobbs’ decision, a 20-year custom that saw gubernatorial candidates participate in a television discussion presented by the Citizens Clean Elections Commission comes to an end. Even after the debate over the topic is ended, Lake and her allies will continue to use this as a political talking point. In a statement on Monday morning, the Republican Governor’s Association, which is spending millions of dollars attacking Hobbs on television, slammed her.
RGA spokesman Will Reinert declared, “Bawk, bawk, bawk… It’s official. Katie Hobbs “Chicken- out of the debate.”
Hobbs suggested hosting a town hall-style event where each candidate would answer questions from a moderator for 30 minutes without engaging in discussion. On October 12, Lake will get 30 minutes to herself on television with a moderator because Hobbs has formally refused the debate format.
