(JustPatriots.com)- One of the things that is largely overlooked by radical activists is the Supreme Court’s tradition of collegiality and cooperation among the justices. So the radical left probably wasn’t happy when Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke favorably about their current target Justice Clarence Thomas.
Over the winter, NPR ran a hit-piece on Justice Neil Gorsuch, claiming his refusal to wear a mask during oral arguments had forced Justice Sotomayor to attend arguments remotely.
The report was debunked by Sotomayor and Gorsuch, who released a joint statement expressing surprise at the claim and reaffirming that they are “warm colleagues and friends.”
Activists want to believe that the Liberal Justices and the Conservatives Justices are regularly at each other’s throats. But that just isn’t the case.
Last week, Justice Sotomayor burst the Left’s bubble once again. During a talk at the American Constitution Society last Thursday, Sotomayor praised Justice Clarence Thomas for his commitment to the court and dedication to its integrity.
The Liberal Justice conceded that she and Justice Thomas often disagree, but they both share “a common understanding about people and kindness toward them.”
She said of Justice Thomas that he is the one justice at the Court who “literally knows every employee’s name.” What’s more, she said, Justice Thomas “remembers their families’ names and histories” as well, adding that after her stepfather died, Justice Thomas was the first one to send her flowers.
She said Justice Thomas told her when he first joined the court, another justice said, “I judge you by what you do here. Welcome.” Sotomayor said she shared that story with Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he first came to the court.
Sotomayor explained that when you’re working together “for most of the remainder of your life,” you must “create a relationship.” And for Sotomayor, the nine justices on the court “are now a family” that is “just as important as our personal family.”
