Judge Orders Treasury To Give Notice To Trump Before Releasing Tax Returns

(JustPatriots)- Even after leaving the White House, Democrats still appear to be obsessed with the idea of getting hold of President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

Last week, a federal judge issued a temporary order that would require the Treasury Department to give the former president and his attorneys three days notice before they hand over his tax return to House Democrats. And you know handing over those tax returns would unleash chaos, with House Democrats looking for even the smallest discrepancy to beat the president with.

Judge Trevor McFadden who was appointed by President Trump in 2017 to the District Court for the District of Columbia, issued a new two-week order as the House Ways and Means Committee continues to push to get hold of the long-sought-after documents.

Richard Neal, the chairman of the committee, has long argued that the Treasury is required to provide the documents because Donald Trump was the president, but former treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin has repeatedly refused those requests.

As it stands, it is unclear whether the Treasury under Joe Biden plans to release the documents to House Democrats, but Neal has not stopped making requests. He has reportedly said that he hopes the treasury department “will follow what we believe is a clear legal obligation.”

Note that he says “we believe” rather than making the definitive statement that it is a clear legal obligation.

So desperate and obsessed are Democrats to get hold of the tax returns that a Manhattan DA reportedly has obtained some of President Trump’s tax information. Cyrus Vance is reportedly waiting on a Supreme Court ruling on his subpoena of an accounting company and is said to be investigating “tax and loan fraud” from the Trump Organization – an unsubstantiated claim used to obtain the president’s tax returns.

While no charges are expected, it remains possible that Trump’s accountancy firm Mazars USA may be required to hand over his tax documents from between 2011 and 2018.

Former President Donald Trump has dismissed the efforts as a “fishing expedition” and a “continuation of the witch hunt.”
