Historic GOP Poll Shows Hispanic Support Surging

(JustPatriots.com)- If Republicans are able to regain control of the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate in the midterm elections in 2022, they may have Hispanic voters to thank.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is implementing media and advertising outreach programs in Spanish in hopes to attract voters to support their candidates. These campaigns are going to be especially prominent in 2022 battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin, Ohio, North Carolina, Nevada and Georgia.

According to recent polls, Hispanic voters are leaning Republican more now than ever before.

Senator Rick Scott, the chairman of the NRSC, held a recent joint press conference with Senator Marco Rubio. At that event, he said:

“If you look at these poll numbers, Hispanics all across the country are Republicans. If Republicans reach out to them, we’re going to win.”

Rubio, who himself is facing re-election in the 2022 midterms, added:

“Hispanic voters are small business owners and workers who came to America because the place they came from was bad. They don’t consider themselves victims. In fact, they consider this country a place of extraordinary opportunity.”

Overall, Hispanic voters support Democratic candidates at much higher rates. This makes attracting Hispanic voters to the GOP even more important.

In the 2020 presidential election, for example, 70% of Hispanic voters supported Democrats. Hispanic voters were a big reason why President Joe Biden won Arizona, making it the first time a Democrat had done so since 1996.

Insiders for the Democratic Party say they have plenty of work to do to improve their performance among Hispanic voters specifically in Rubio and Scott’s home state of Florida. At the same time, they say Republicans have a huge hurdle to overcome with many issues important to Hispanic voters, including immigration.

Democrats also say that Republicans being against Biden’s most recent coronavirus economic stimulus package works in their favor. They point to an April poll that showed 76% of Hispanics were in favor of the American Rescue Plan.

In typical liberal fashion, they also attempt to spread misinformation to build up their own status among Hispanic voters. For example, a spokeswoman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Jazmin Vargas, commented:

“A fake poll from the NRSC won’t change Senate Republicans’ record of attacking Latinos’ access to affordable care, their refusal to support DREAMers, and their unanimous vote against a coronavirus relief package that has provided direct economic relief to millions of Latino families and small businesses.

“Latinos will hold every Senate Republican accountable for their toxic agenda in November next year.”

The fact is that, despite what Vargas and other Democrats say, Republicans have made huge gains among Hispanic voters in recent years. Donald Trump, for example, actually improved his performance among this cohort nationally and in state contests from the 2016 to 2020 presidential elections.

He even flipped many counties where Hispanics are a majority, and that have historically always voted Democrat. He won Zapata County, a border Texas county that hadn’t voted a Republican for president in a century.
