Elon Musk Eyes White House Job, Willing to Work Under Trump

Elon Musk has said that he is “willing to serve” in a future Donald Trump administration. The billionaire tweeted an image of himself standing behind a podium labeled “Department of Government Efficiency,” in a nod to his recent conversation with the former President when they discussed creating a government department aimed at eliminating waste. During the two-hour-long interview, Musk floated the idea of a “government efficiency commission” to ensure taxpayers’ money was well spent.

Mr. Musk also complained to the former President about excessive government spending and the nation’s growing debt – currently running at around $35 trillion.

The Twitter and Tesla owner has enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump for President, saying the country is “toast” if Vice President Kamala Harris enters the Oval Office. On August 20, he posted a poll on Twitter asking people to participate in his “super unscientific” survey. The tweet was shared almost 75,000 times, and the final result showed that three-quarters of the 2.3 million respondents were committed to voting for Donald Trump.

In response to his latest tweet about serving in government, Donald Trump confirmed that he was willing to consider the idea. When asked if he would place Musk in a cabinet job, Trump said, “He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He’s a brilliant guy.”

In 2022, Musk announced that despite his history of backing the Democratic Party, he could no longer do so. He said the Democrats had transformed from a party of “kindness” to one of “division and hate.” The billionaire accused Democrats of engaging in “dirty tricks,” and when he took over Twitter the same year, he immediately reinstated Donald Trump’s account.

The former President was banned from the platform after the events of January 6 and the “risk of further incitement of violence.” He was initially locked out of his account for describing the January 6 protestors as “patriots,” but the ban was made permanent days later. A statement from Twitter said the President continued to post tweets that violated the platform’s “Glorification of Violence Policy.”
