Elon Musk Agrees To Stop Leading Twitter After Just 7 Weeks

(JustPatriots.com)- Last weekend, Elon Musk ran a Twitter poll asking users if they think he should step down as CEO of the social media platform, saying he would abide by the poll results. But it appears Musk already planned to step down long before the poll was posted.

With over 17 million users voting in the poll, the Yes votes carried the day, garnering nearly 58 percent of the vote.

In a tweet after the poll ended, Musk said, “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.”

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO took over as Twitter’s CEO after firing former CEO Parag Agrawal shortly after Musk acquired the social media platform in late October.

At the time, Musk reportedly planned to remain interim CEO, stepping aside after he found a full-time replacement.

Last Tuesday, CNBC reported that Musk was already looking for a new CEO to take over the company before running the poll.

That night, Musk confirmed his plans in a tweet, saying he would resign “as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” Once a new CEO is found, Musk said he will remain at Twitter to run the “software & servers teams.”

Sources told CNBC’s David Faber that Musk has been “actively looking” for a replacement CEO long before he posted the Twitter poll.

Faber said on “Squawk Box” last Tuesday morning that often Musk “already knows the answer” to his polls before he posts them.

To finance his takeover of Twitter, Musk sold billions in Tesla shares this year. Additionally, he brought in talent from his other companies, Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company, to assist him at the social media company, including executives, engineers, and attorneys.

In early December, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson asked SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell if SpaceX’s work with the agency would be affected by Musk being distracted with Twitter.
