(JustPatriots.com)- Among the nuggets of questionable claims in the latest in what will no doubt be a long line of books intended to damage Donald Trump’s legacy is one story about Dr. Anthony Fauci and a suspicious white powder.
According to the book “Nightmare Scenario” by Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta due to be released June 29, last summer NIAID Director Anthony Fauci reportedly received mail containing a white powder that “literally blew up in his face.”
A fearful Fauci, unsure if the mysterious substance was a harmless prank or a genuine threat like anthrax or ricin, was stripped down to his jockey shorts and hosed down in a chemical lab while standing in what he claimed looked like a kiddy pool.
As it turned out, the white powder was nothing. But better safe than sorry.
The mailing of “suspicious powder” has been a go-to threat among the kooky unhinged of late.
During the Kavanaugh confirmation process in the fall of 2018, Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins received at her home a letter containing a mysterious powder along with a note referencing anthrax and featuring a stick figure with X’s for eyes.
Like the letter sent to Fauci, this white powder was harmless. Not that it mattered. The Maine woman who sent the letter was later convicted and sentenced to 30 months in prison.
And while someone wanted to threaten Fauci, Fauci’s opponents were also on the receiving end of similar suspicious powder incidents.
In May, Senator Rand Paul’s wife Kelley received a suspicious letter at the Paul’s Kentucky home containing a white powder. Also in the envelope was an image of a bruised and bandaged Senator Paul with a gun to his head and the message “I’ll finish what your neighbor started you motherf**ker.”
Thus far, no suspect has been arrested in that incident.
In September 2020, a package intended for President Trump containing the poison ricin was intercepted by authorities on its way to the White House. Shortly afterward, a 53-year-old Canadian woman was apprehended as she attempted to cross the US/Canada border near Buffalo, New York.
