(JustPatriots.com)- Senator Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat from California, recently said that she doesn’t consider a human fetus to be a “human being” even at fifteen weeks old – which is the age at which Mississippi’s controversial abortion law bans abortion providers from terminating a pregnancy.
Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Feinstein said that she believes a “human being is life” but that at fifteen weeks “you do not have life.”
She added that she believes the decision is not up to her – as the issue is currently being fought out in the Supreme Court – but said that she believes women should “have the right within certain legal restraints” to prevent pregnancy.
Feinstein, who is 88 years old and has no plans on retiring from office, said that she remains steadfast in supporting Roe v. Wade, the 50-year-old precedent that allows women to abort a fetus that cannot survive outside of the womb. Mississippi’s recent abortion law tested this theory, and now it’s up to the Supreme Court to decide whether Roe v. Wade was the correct ruling, whether women have a “right” to abortion, and at what age a fetus is technically considered viable.
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a suit that’s ongoing, and earlier this month the Supreme Court heard the first oral arguments.
Democratic legislators are pushing for the Supreme Court to side with Roe, and for new legislation to be passed in Congress to codify the law in case the Supreme Court decides to overturn the law based on its unconstitutionality.
Which is…interesting. If the Democrats think that codifying a law that is likely to be deemed unconstitutional by constitutional experts in the Supreme Court, do they believe that the U.S. Constitution should not be followed?
Or do they think their belief that a human fetus is not a human life is just more important?
