Detroit CBP Director Faces Fraud Allegations

In a shocking twist of irony, the individual tasked with protecting our borders couldn’t protect herself from allegations of defrauding taxpayers. A high-ranking Detroit Customs and Border Protection official now faces serious charges after allegedly pocketing FEMA disaster funds intended for flood victims.

At a glance:

• Serina Baker-Hill, Detroit’s Customs and Border Protection director, has been charged with defrauding FEMA of approximately $6,300

• Baker-Hill allegedly claimed her home was uninhabitable following August 2023 floods while continuing to live there

• The fraud was discovered during an FBI investigation into her husband’s alleged narcotics trafficking

• Records show none of the FEMA funds were used for their intended purpose of rent, hotel stays, or utilities

• FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized this case demonstrates the agency’s commitment to fighting public corruption

Border Officer Accused of Border-line Fraud

Serina Baker-Hill, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection official in Detroit, is facing federal charges for allegedly defrauding the Federal Emergency Management Agency and making false statements to federal officials. Primary allegations refer to claims she made following devastating floods that hit Michigan in August 2023. The case may prove another example of shady goings-on across the bloated government and which Elon Musk is trying to root out.

According to authorities, Baker-Hill applied for and received approximately $6,300 in FEMA disaster assistance after claiming her home was too damaged to live in during repairs. The funds were specifically designated for temporary housing and essential utilities.

Federal investigators discovered that none of the money was used for its intended purpose, with surveillance footage and utility records showing that Baker-Hill and her husband never actually vacated their allegedly “uninhabitable” residence.

Drug Trafficking Investigation Uncovers FEMA Fraud

The FEMA fraud allegations were uncovered during an ongoing FBI investigation into Baker-Hill’s husband, Maurice, who faces a staggering 43-count indictment related to drug trafficking, weapons charges, and money laundering. Federal agents intercepted damning phone conversations between the couple discussing the FEMA payments.

In one particularly incriminating intercepted call, Baker-Hill told her husband, “they approved us for six,” to which he responded, “Thousand?” She replied, “Is that how it works?”

FBI Director Vows Justice Will Be Served

FBI Director Kash Patel has taken a firm stance and restated his commitment to fighting corruption.

“This is part of the new FBI’s renewed efforts to crack down on public corruption and deliver accountability for the American people,” Patel declared. The FBI Director concluded with a clear warning to other potentially corrupt officials: “Justice will be done.”

Despite the overwhelming evidence against her, Baker-Hill has reportedly maintained her innocence, telling investigators she had done nothing illegal. The criminal complaint notes that while a FEMA inspector confirmed basement damage to the home, evidence shows the couple continued living there throughout the repair period.
