(JustPatriots.com)- Vice President Kamala Harris ran for president during the 2020 election cycle. When she lost out — badly — to current President Joe Biden, she made her way to the executive branch to serve as the second in line.
Harris’ presidential aspirations are likely not over even though she didn’t win in 2020, and that prospect is scaring a lot of high-ranking officials within the Democratic Party.
Axios recently reported that many Democrats believe any candidate Republicans would roll out against Harris in 2024 would easily defeat Harris, if Biden decides not to run for re-election.
At this point, Biden is expected to run for re-election in 2024. If he does, though, he’ll be 81 as he seeks to return to the White House.
If he decides not to run for re-election, it’s very likely that Harris would run — and Biden would endorse her. It would make it very difficult for the standing vice president — who’s also the first Black woman to serve in the role — to lose to any other candidate Democrats would put forth.
Axios report says:
“Many Democrats, including some current senior administration officials, are concerned she could not defeat whomever the Republican Party puts up — even if it were Donald Trump.”
Furthermore, one operative in the Democratic Party is particularly concerned about the prospect of Harris being the nominee. The anonymous operative told Axios:
“Oh, no, our heir apparent is f***ing up, what are we gonna do? It’s more that people think, ‘Oh, she’s f***ing up, maybe she shouldn’t be the heir apparent.”
Axios’ report goes on to outline just what the line of thinking is within senior administration:
“Relations between the West Wing and the Vice President’s office are tense.
“Several administration officials used ‘shitshow’ when describing Harris’ office, and contrast her operation with disciplined, virtually leakproof Biden aides.
“Some Biden officials view the Harris operation as poorly-managed and staffed with people who don’t have long-term relationships with her. They feel she’s gotten bad advice from her press and communications shop and think it’s telling that she’s already lost two advance aides and a digital director.”
Officials have tried to play off the resignations of some of Harris’ staffers as long-planned. But, it doesn’t bring good attention to the vice president when top staffers Gabrielle DeFranceschi and Karly Satkowiak have stepped down in the first six months of the Biden administration.
According to one person who had knowledge of the situation, DeFrancheschi quit before of a “difference in opinion on how things should run. If you have an opinion about how things should run and it’s not listened to, that can be frustrating.”
DeFranceschi served as Harris’ deputy director of advance.
It probably shouldn’t be surprising that Harris’ office is in disarray and that Democrats aren’t excited about the prospects of her being the Democratic nominee in 2024 — or beyond.
But, maybe this is something they should have thought about before pushing Biden into naming her his running mate.
