(JustPatriots.com)- Laura Osnes, the two-time Tony nominee who started her career after winning the talent search show “Grease: You’re the One That I Want!” in 2008 and went on to become a Broadway superstar, was let go from a Hamptons show last week purportedly because she refused to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
Osnes was set to perform in front of a star-studded audience for a one-night only performance of “Crazy For You” at the Guild Hall in East Hamptons later this month.
According to Page Six, Osnes’ co-star Tony Yazbeck grilled her about her vaccination status because he had two kids at home – so naturally he needed to pry into her personal life. It was then that Osnes admitted that she had not received the COVID vaccine and won’t because she doesn’t trust them.
Page Six apparently thought the fact that Laura Osnes is a Christian conservative might have something to do with her disobedience, because for some reason they brought that up out of nowhere in the report.
Once Osnes admitted she wouldn’t get the vaccine, she was immediately shown the door and replaced by Sierra Boggess – the actress who played the role of Ariel the mermaid in the Broadway stage production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
The Artistic Director for the Guild Hall, Josh Gladstone, explained that the theater has the same COVID requirement that both Broadway and Actors’ Equity is requiring for performances. Though he expressed disappointment that Laura Osnes wouldn’t be performing in “Crazy for You,” Gladstone explained that the theater is concerned about the safety of its staff and audience.
According to the Broadway League, returning Broadway shows will require proof of vaccination for audiences, performers and backstage staff.
A representative for the Guild Hall disputed Gladstone’s claim that their policy is like that of Broadway. Instead, the policy of the theater is that performers can either provide proof of full vaccination or documentation of a recent negative COVID test.
Osnes’ rep, while confirming that she left the show, did not specify the reasons why the actress left.
