A seasoned Democratic politician from California, Gloria Romero, bids farewell to her party and joins the GOP, stating she is ready to “make America great again.”
Romero served as the California state senator from 2001 to 2010 and became the first woman to serve as the leader of the Democratic Party in the California State Senate in 2005.
She criticized Democrats for raising Vice President Kamala Harris to the top of the Democratic ticket without holding the primary elections and not allowing candidates to challenge Joe Biden when he was still in the presidential race.
The former Democrat went on to say that she is preparing to play her role in the election season to help the GOP and that her former opponents have welcomed her into their party. Romero also accused Democrats of resorting to “authoritarianism (and) censorship” and criticized them for their far-left gender agenda. She claimed that Democrats have manipulated language in such a way that she will now face backlash if she says anything about biological sex and gender identity.
Despite being pro-choice, Romero stated that she could not support a political party that advocates for abortion until birth. She remembered historical Democratic figures, including former Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy, as “heroes,” and recalled the famous words of former President Ronald Reagan, who said that only liberalism could drive fascism in the United States.
The former Democrat also grilled far-left climate activists who have been trying to ban daily household electrical appliances. Romero said she can’t cook a tortilla on an electric stove and always needs a gas stove.
She also announced her plans to vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming elections and trusted his leadership skills to bring the country out of the crisis. The GOP has preferred peace at a time when Democrats are pursuing “endless war,” Romero added.
According to Romero, Democrats no longer care for the working class and have failed Californians in every possible way.
Meanwhile, Democratic politicians from California labeled Romero’s announcement to leave the Democratic Party as “old news.” On the other hand, California state Senate Republican leader Brian Jones said that he appreciated Romero’s decision, stating that she tried hard to save the Democratic Party but remained unsuccessful.
Jones admired Romero’s leadership experience and bravery for parting ways with a political party she has represented throughout her life. He further claimed that Californians have been grappling with record-breaking inflation, severe crime, and a homelessness crisis due to the broken state government.
In August, incumbent California State Senator Marie Alvarado also left the Democratic party and called it an “unrecognizable” entity that does not want to solve the problems Californians face.
