(JustPatriots.com)- According to a new book about the Biden presidency, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have had real tensions, with the president telling friends that he has been “annoyed” with her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, who has complained about the VP’s official assignments.
Biden is said to be frustrated with Harris, referring to her as a “work in progress,” according to Chris Whipple’s upcoming book, “The Fight of His Life.”
The book provides an inside look at the first years of Biden’s presidency. Whipple said that while writing the book, he had “extensive access to Biden administration officials.”
Whipple’s access to the administration provided insight into the squabble between Biden and Harris after the vice president’s husband reportedly irritated the president by complaining about her policy assignments.
Word got back to Biden that the second gentleman Douglas Emhoff had been complaining about Harris’ policy portfolio, which he felt was hurting her politically.
According to the book, Biden felt he “hadn’t asked Harris to do anything he hadn’t done as vice president, but she’d begged him for the voting rights assignment.
Whipple also claimed that Biden told a friend that he saw the vice president as a “work in progress.”
A senior White House adviser blamed Harris’ stumble on advice from her inner circle. “They didn’t serve her well during the presidential campaign — and they are ill-serving her now,” the adviser said.
Whipple told Politico that tensions within the Biden administration have subsided in its second year and that Biden will have a much better presidency in 2022.
Whipple’s work depicts other tension and frustration in the Biden White House, such as the disastrous withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021. The book captures White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain’s anger at public and private critiques of Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan by Leon Panetta, the former chief of staff to Bill Clinton.
It also includes information about former President Trump’s letter to Biden before leaving the Oval Office. “That was very gracious and generous,” said Biden, a fact primarily underreported by the vicious partisan press.
