Another Russian Leader Killed In Ukraine Invasion

( A Russian commander is among the tens of thousands of Russian troops believed to have died over the last four weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Reports reveal how Col. Alexei Sharov, the commander of the 810th Guards Brigade of the Russian Marines, was killed on Tuesday in Mariupol.

Russian forces have focused their energy heavily on Mariupol, a city that lies between the Russian-controlled territory of Crimea and the eastern regions of Ukraine that are overwhelmingly pro-Kremlin.

“Yet another senior Russian officer terminated in Ukraine. The Ukrainian military claims to have killed Alexei Sharov, commander of the 810th Guards Brigade of the Russian Marines,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy’s online communications arm said in a tweet.

The tweet also shows a photograph of the Russian colonel who is among 15 colonels believed to have been killed in the conflict so far.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, confirmed on Sunday that dozens of colonels have died as well as six Russian generals.

The news comes as Russian troops are ordered to re-focus their energy on retreating to the eastern regions of Ukraine, where Vladimir Putin has ordered them to “liberate” the “independent” region of Donbas. As Russian troops retreat, they have stepped up their bombing campaign and destroyed several major Ukrainian cities in the process.
