At the tender age of 21, Brooke Huckaby became the youngest female mayor in the U.S. and in the state of Georgia’s history.
Huckaby juggles many roles. She is the mayor of Arabi, a town of less than 500 people in Crisp County, and she is an employee and student at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is where Huckaby is getting her degree in agricultural technology.
Arabi is situated about 150 miles south of Georgia’s capitol, Atlanta.
Locals may doubt her leadership skills, but Huckaby, a Republican, is determined to learn everything she can about government by running for office. If people want to get experience, they have to get into the ring. Huckaby’s generation’s disinterest in politics and economics motivated her work. She wants to be the catalyst for change and the trailblazer when others are afraid to move forward since she knows that the older generation won’t be there forever to take care of things.
Since she took on the post, her dad, Craig Huckaby, who served as mayor for 12 years, has also been mentoring her.
According to Brooke, she hesitated to tell her father she wanted to run for office and hid the news for a few days. Her father said he was shocked at first but is now happy. She’s rather intelligent. It will work out.
According to the mayor, she plans to build roads, resolve neighborhood conflicts, and improve internet access, among other important concerns. Huckaby is attempting to establish a police force in Arabi.
As a supporter of former President Donald Trump, Brooke has previously shared images of herself wearing Trump gear on social media. She believes that people ought to begin thinking about the world they are leaving their children and their future. At the moment, she doesn’t believe people are concerned about this.
