Pelosi Says She Won’t Retire Despite Requests

( On March 26, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi turned 81. But despite her advancing age and obvious decline, Pelosi has no intention of retiring from office.

In a cloying interview on MSNBC, “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Pelosi if she had any plans on stepping down or at the very least considering retirement sometime in the near future.

Playing a bit of a “word association” game, Brzezinski offered up the word “retirement.”

With a laugh, Pelosi joked, “What’s that?”

Naturally, Brzezinski used the interview to portray Nancy as a tireless fighter, asking Pelosi if there was ever a moment in her political career she wanted to give it up. Playing right along, Pelosi bragged that she never had a moment of doubt that what she was doing was what she was supposed to do.

Pelosi went on to claim that the work she does is “valuable,” adding that it is important to “just be confident in who you are.”

Pelosi is undeniably confident.

She never waivers. Even when she is caught violating COVID restrictions to get her hair done, she confidently accuses the salon owner of a set-up, then keeps marching forward unscathed.

The First’s Jesse Kelly often points out that Republicans could use some politicians as brazen and confident as Pelosi. Kelly believes that, despite Nancy’s general awfulness, Republicans really should “respect her game.”

Pelosi, a member of Congress since 1987, isn’t the only member of the Democrat House leadership well beyond retirement age. In fact, all three are octogenarians. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), like Pelosi is 81 years old. Democrat Whip, James Clyburn (D-SC) will be turning 81 in July.

Pelosi’s latest test of leadership during the 2020 election wasn’t the roaring success Democrats had hoped. Rather than expand on the majority won in 2018, the Democrats lost seats – now holding the slimmest majority in decades.

According to a recent poll from Democracy Corps, voter enthusiasm leading into the 2022 midterms among Republicans is eleven percent higher than among Democrats. Which is probably why the Democrats have gone full-bore on smearing Republicans over the January 6 melee at the Capitol. The Democrats hope to gin up their base by portraying Republicans as a “threat” to “democracy” in much the same way they ginned up the so-called anti-Trump “Resistance” to turn out in 2018 by playing up the so-called “Russian Collusion” narrative.

It may be Pelosi’s only hope. The Democrat agenda is not particularly popular among voters. So ginning up the angry base may be the only way to save what little majority she has left.
